OH NO! A rock just flew up and hit your windshield… now what?

A big crack or large area of damage to your windshield necessitates a replacement, but a little chip in the glass can be more irritating than anything else.

Fun Fact!

Did you know that most insurance companies will waive the deductible for rock chip repair. Wouldn’t it be great if you could repair that chip and pay no money out of pocket? Don’t wait to get it fixed, swing by and see how we can help!

The facts…

A windshield chip can and will spread! Getting that chip fixed right away can save you a bunch of money in the long run. Let’s go over HOW this happens so you know what to avoid if you can’t make it into the Pro Glass for the repair:

  1. Driving over a speed bump, pothole or other uneven terrain can cause a windshield chip to crack. The force radiates through the car and puts additional pressure on the edges of the chip, which can quickly lead to a crack.
  2. Temperature variations can also cause the chip to become a crack. Extreme temperature changes can really be a problem
  3. Excessive pressure on the interior glass can cause the chip to crack further too

All of these things can lead to a crack in your windshield and a crack can NOT be repaired. You’ll have to have a replacement.

Another thing to consider if you choose to wait to have the chip repaired is if dirt and debris are embedded into the area of the chip, it will make the repair less effective or even impossible. Weather and even windshield wipers can force dirt into the chip. Even windshield washer fluid, which contains dyes, can discolor the area. When the repair is eventually done, the result will not be as smooth and clean as it could have been. Instead, the area of the repair will have a cloudy or dirty look, because the resin will seal in that debris.

So when it comes to chip repair for your vehicle, do not delay. Stop by Pro Glass in Georgetown, TX and let us help you with the repair!
